UEA - Midwife Ante-Natal Assessment (MANA)

MANA screenshotThe MANA Real World Environment programme is designed to help midwives improve their ability to assess the pregnant woman. They are able to practice, and be assessed in, their interpersonal and clinical assessment skills in a realistic yet safe scenario.

The 3D environment allows the user navigate around a representation of a 2-bedroom bungalow. Once in the house they carry out a 36-week antenatal assessment by talking to and undertaking assessments of the patient's physical state. They are also able to access the records of the patient's health state and previous visits. Based on the information the users acquires they evaluate the patient's condition and plan her care needs for the immediate future. As the user progresses, the package will judges their progress and provides them with a detailed evaluation of their activities.

Within the scenario the user is able to access maternity notes and choose equipment from the midwife's equipment bag in order to undertake appropriate tests. It is also possible to carry out and record the results of, urinalysis, blood pressure measurement and abdominal assessment.
